Sacramento River Discovery Center
The Sacramento River Discovery Center, at the end of Sale Lane in Red Bluff, provides opportunities for learning about the Sacramento River
watershed ranging from short visits to guided
lectures at a small fee.
Most of the research and displays have been accomplished by students and the community.
The 488-acre site is an outdoor classroom at the Red Bluff Recreation Area and offers walking trails through native habitats such as a riparian forest, flowering grasslands, wetlands and oak woodlands.
Annual events include the Watershed
Celebration, featuring a 5K, 10K run/walk and children’s activities, held the third Saturday in May and frequent bird
watching trips, native
plant sales and arts
festivals. Asummer camp runs from mid-June through the first week of August. The visitors center is open to the public 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The center contains
educational and hands- on interpretive displays. More information is available at (530) 527- 1196 or visit
