Now at 92, she enjoys sharing her fl owering cactus with her neighbors, friends and visitors. Lee said, "Last year I had 27 blooms at one time and today there are 30!" Argentine Giant – Echinopsis candicans This cactus, native to Argentina, has an unusual growth habit for a cactus. It does not get any taller than about three feet at maturity, and has sprawl- ing limbs that grow just as wide. Large fl owers, generally six to eight inches in diameter are white with yellow centers. They appear at night, sometimes lasting into the early morning or even longer on cool, cloudy days. Flowers are followed by a purple fruit, with a red pulp. Blossoms are wonderfully fragrant and attract night pollinators such as bats and moths. | S RAIN G-B "Now I see the secret of making the best person: it is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth." ~ Walt Whitman
