Alpha Slants of BETA THETA PI PAGE 5 shares, "It is actually very satisfying to have been a part of something that means so much to so many. I think all of us that were involved want to leave the Alpha Chapter even better than we found it. It is great to see the chapter reinvigorated." Tom shares, "Not many opportunities come along to steward such an important place as 200 East High Street; important to the men who have called it home, to the fraternity it serves, to the fraternity movement, to Miami University, and to Oxford, Ohio. I'm glad to have been part of an important time in its history." But the Forever Alpha campaign is more than restoring Alpha Chapter's beautiful home; it is also about ensuring that future generations of young men experience the greatness Beta has to offer. Tom explains, "Beta's direction of providing a place where young men seek the challenge of becoming Men of Principle seems to me to be what's needed. I hope our project is successful in serving that purpose. Through this lens I've been moved to contribute to Beta for the first time. Beta is forging an important place in our culture and is worthy of support." To his brothers who have lost touch with the Alpha Chapter, Randy says, "When you are asked to be of service, don't be afraid to say 'yes.' I hope that those who haven't yet contributed to the Forever Alpha campaign will find a way to do so. It is not too late." As we are currently still a colony, we received word that we will be presenting at the Beta Convention in August for chapter status. What makes us different here at 200 E. High Street is our diversity amongst our brothers. Our values-based recruitment process has done such incredible work creating a group of brothers with incredibly different backgrounds and experiences. This has stayed true through the beginning of this year. We completed our formal recruitment process at the beginning of this spring semester, culminating with initiation on Sunday, March 3. Twenty-two new brothers joined our band and it was a great weekend celebrating their inclusion. One development that we are most proud of is the creation of a new position in our chapter. Named the Hansen Chair, after late brother Evan Hansen from Wabash College who took his own life last fall, this position works as the mental health awareness chair that officially oversees the mental well- being of the chapter and its members. Additionally, our chapter has started working with the GiANT Worldwide Leadership Initiative to help all of us discover our unique leadership personalities. This program was gifted to us generously through our alumni and has already showed dividends through the first chapter-wide program. In addition, we have grown our involvement on campus with brothers in new positions in the Interfraternity Council, student government, professional fraternities, and prestigious singing groups, among many more. As a chapter we have had events with many sororities on campus, utilizing our beautiful home to host them for dinners and social events such as game night. I have been with this recolonized Alpha Chapter since the beginning spring of 2017 and am honored to have been a part of its growth and development over the past two years. The assistance we have had from alumni, advisors, The General Fraternity, and friends of Beta is unparalleled and cannot be understated. I look forward to continuing this with an exceptional 2019 for the Alpha Chapter. Yours in __ kai __, Christian Daniels #2801 Update from the Active Chapter Initiation night with the 22 brothers from the spring 2019 class.
