Riding for the Brand : 100 Years, Pride-Loyalty-Brotherhood LAMBDA CHI ALPHA - ALPHA ETA - OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY FINISHING STRONG What You Can Do to Help W e're all familiar with the old 80/20 rule and I've always found it amazingly accurate. Well brothers, this project is certainly not finished (in terms of fundraising), and Alpha Eta alumni involvement is certainly not at capacity. You can change that. Our capital campaign goal is $4.5 million. We've successfully raised $3.35 million, but to date only 13% of our active alumni have made a financial contribution. Greek fundraising statistics indicate a typical participation rate of 20%-23%. I share this simply to encourage those who have waited to give to act now! Our success depends on your involvement and your willingness to do your fair share. Gifts above $25,000 can be tax deductible and we still have the capacity for $500,000 of additional pledges in this category. We remind you that many brothers are spreading their gift over 3-5 years, allowing them to increase the amount that they give. Once our $4.5 million goal is met we anticipate a mortgage debt of $1.5 million that will be serviced through Chapter operations. Many have seen the construction progress either firsthand or via the project link. The structural steel has been erected, the basement completed, the first floor poured, and the framing of the three floors is in progress. Our small lot size and the need for a large basement have made construction very challenging, but we all agree that 923 University is the best location in Stillwater. Your support at any level will assist us as we work to complete construction, allowing the Chapter to be competitive with other fraternities on campus and attract the caliber of men that Alpha Eta desires. It's up to you! In Z.A.X., Steve Holton AH910, Campaign Chairman Check out construction progress anytime by following this link: bit.ly/2zJxhYm. D uring the summer before arriving on OSU's campus, excited to start his journey towards becoming an engineer, David Reynolds AH1367 had not thought much about joining a fraternity. During one of the most life-changing conversations David had with family friend, Jack Crane, Jack encouraged David to just keep an open mind and meet with some men from Lambda Chi Alpha. Taking a chance and listening to Jack's advice, David attended some recruitment events and realized that Alpha Eta and fraternity life could give him so much more than he expected. "I realized that there is a lot more to fraternities than partying. I met a broad, diverse group of people and connected with a lot of brothers. After a few recruitment events, it was an easy decision." Throughout his college career, David's fraternity brothers gave him the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds he wouldn't have had otherwise. He shared, "Despite the common misconception, the fraternity is not just a homogenous group of guys […] They gave me a different cultural experience. You don't realize at the time, but your horizon and perspective are being broadened living with so many guys. You get a better appreciation for others' points of view." A Lifelong Decision Made Easy David Reynolds AH1367 Shares Alpha Eta's Impact and His Support for the Capital Campaign (Continued on back)
