Phi Gamma Delta University of Kansas P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested Hard Work and Dedication Lead to Increased GPA at Pi Deuteron I n my last address, I urged that although we had accomplished a lot, we could not be com- placent. I am proud of what we have achieved in the last few months as we strive to be the best Chapter we can be. Rising Academics One of the things we are most proud of is our GPA. Coming off a year that was frankly unac- ceptable (Chapter GPA of 3.03; freshman GPA of 2.78), we strived to do all that we could to increase the level of scholarship. With the help of Scholarship Chairmen Stephen Mussat '21 and Sam Glaser '20, we were able to achieve a Chapter GPA of 3.20. While that was great, and we are very proud of it, what we are proud of most is that our freshmen achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.31. I cannot thank Sam and Stephen enough, as their drive was undoubtedly what pushed the freshmen for- ward. With that being said, we cannot be com- placent. We are on the heels of the best chapter GPAs on campus, and we will do our best to catch those fraternities, including Beta Theta Pi. New Leadership I realize I spent a considerable amount of time talking about scholarship (which I am partial to, given my past experience as Scholarship Chair- man), but the rest of the Chapter continues for- ward at a bustling pace. We just conducted elec- tions, giving many Brothers their first chance to have an overt direct impact on the direction of the Chapter. With that being said, I am confident in saying these new chairmen are some of the strongest leaders we have had yet, and I look for- ward to working with them. Chapter Involvement Our Community Service and Philanthropy Chairmen have had excellent ideas for giving back to our community, as has our Alumni Re- lations Chairman in connecting with Graduate Brothers. Our Undergraduate Brothers have tak- en significant steps toward improving the house, including a remodel of the scholarship room. Our Islander Chairmen are already planning for our next installment and figuring out how we can impact our community the most. It is a great day to be a Phi Gam, and I look for- ward to what the future brings. Fraternally, Seth Wingerter '20 Chapter President (913) 982-6815 / kufijipresident@gmail.com Internship Opportunities I f any Graduate Brothers have the need for internships at your company, contact Andy Morrison '87. We would love to present oppor- tunities like this to our Undergraduate Brothers and allow them the chance to work alongside our accomplished FIJI Brothers. Ad Astra W e are sorry to report the death of these Graduate Brothers, who will be dearly missed. Joseph S. McClelland '54, d. March 2, 2018 Donald L. Burnett '56, d. December 18, 2017 Loren W.
