Just over a week to go, so now would be a good time to come tour the Museum before we cut back for the summer! A big thank you to all the folks who stopped by this winter, those who were able to contribute and those who gave of their time to help further the mission of the Quartzsite Historical Society. Without YOU we can't continue to operate. A special thank you to the Town of Quartzsite for their funding assistance, Arizona Humanities for the speaker's program and the Arizona Historical Society for their grant. Even during the summer we continue to need volunteers to assist with a variety of projects including exhibit cleaning and inventorying, computer input and general offi ce work, computer maintenance, special projects, docent assistance greeting the public and conducting tours, research of additional information regarding Quartzsite and general maintenance. We received a grant this year which helps fund the development of some new exhibits, as well. If you are staying in Quartzsite for the summer please consider helping, or if you travel to other areas but have some free time and want to help, let us know. There are some projects that can be done remotely. Membership of $10 for a year is encouraged. As a member you will receive e-mail notices of coming events, have free admission to our fi eld trips and have a vote in decisions being made regarding the Historical Society and Museum, in addition to helping fund the free Museum. We are a non-profi t historical society. Visiting the Museum is free, although donations are always welcome. The Museum is open Wednes- day through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm through March 31. We are located at 161 Main Street (parking in rear). We are next door to Silly Al's. Phone (928)927-5229. E-Mail QHS@TDS.net. We are continuing to recycle plastic, aluminum and glass, which can be dropped off any time at our front gate collection can. Thanks to everyone who has been contributing! Keep Quartzsite Clean and Beautiful As snowbirds return home to their favorite winter nests, the Desert Messenger wishes to remind everyone not to put their trimmings/ brush in the washes. Please dispose responsibly, anytime, at the Town's chipper yard, near the transfer station on Hwy. 95, 1/2 + mile north of the Firestation. THE TRANSFER STATION IS OPEN SUN. - WED. 7:30AM-2:30PM. Also please remember coyotes are wild animals... please don't feed the wildlife!
