Betty Crenshaw, Owner C & B LOCK & KEY 42 YEARS EXPERIENCE 928-927-6589 Mobile Service Only During the regular meeting of Quartzsite Town Council on Tuesday, Feb- ruary 26th, 2019 Council Member Joseph Hager announced he will be re- signing his position on the Quartzsite Town Council. "I am announcing this resignation from the Town Council in light of career and educational commitments that I must honor to ensure my best chance of success, which most unfortunately will take me away from Quartzsite for an extended period of time," Hagar stated in a letter to the Council dated February 12. He also stated, "It has been an honor serving on this legisla- tive body with such esteemed, wise, and honorable persons as yourselves." His last day of service on the Council will be Friday, May 24th which is also the last day of class at Quartzsite Elementary School, where he currently is a teacher. Hagar was appointed to the council May 2018 and won his 4- year term in the November 2018 election. During the regular meeting of Quartzsite Town Council on Tuesday, March 12th Council Member Bruce Swart announced he is resigning his position on the council. He announced he is also retiring from his position as Pastor of Quartzsite First Assembly of God Church. Swart stated, "When I ran for the 2-year seat, I was planning on being here for those full 2 years. Sometimes things don't go the way you think they're going to go." Following the recent deaths of his parents, Swart stat- ed, "Life changes happen. God is calling me to do something different. I have resigned as Pastor of the Assembly of God Church." Swart explained he will be doing some evangelizing with his best friend and his wife on the road this summer. Swart plans to return to Quartzsite in November, open- ing up Heaven's Kitchen BBQ. Swart said his last Council meeting will be April 23rd and his last church service will be the fi nal Sunday in April. Swart stated, "It has been a distinct honor and a pleasure to serve this com- munity and to be a part of this council." Swart was appointed to the council June 2017 and won his 2-year term in August 2018. The Town of Quartzsite has not announced they are accepting applica- tions as of press time. 585 N.
