Open mic & art show Creative Writing students from Ar- izona Western College's Parker La Paz County campuses will host an open mic and artists' showcase from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1 at the AWC Parker Com- munity Center. Students and art- ists from the community will have the opportunity to share their work in 3-5-minute presentations. Writ- ers, musicians, dancers, and com- ics are welcome. Any performance suitable for a café-sized stage space (roughly 8X8) is acceptable. Visual artists can contact the organizer to discuss the best options for exhib- iting work. Light refreshments will also be available. The intent is to create a relaxing performance space for the community to come togeth- er and encourage artists to pursue their craft. Individuals interested in performing may stop by the Parker Learning Center or contact Profes- sor David Kern to sign up. Slots are limited to thirty individuals or acts. While Arizona Western College en- courages freedom of expression in artistic matters, we ask that partici- pants refrain from gratuitous refer- ences to violence or slurs based on race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.
