elcome to our Women's Issue, where you'll meet, read
about and hear from lots of interesting, accomplished
and determined women who are making positive
differences in Fayetteville and the surrounding area.
I'll call them Steel… Camellias, in honor of the beautiful and
resilient flowering shrub that's also highlighted in these pages.
Freezing weather killed the blooms on many camellia bushes this
year but guess what? Once temperatures rose, more blooms burst
forth. Strong camellias keep on going just the way strong women do.
You may notice the absence in these pages of one of our regular
columns – that of publisher Marshall Waren. He took a break for the
Women's Issue but will be back for our Dogwood Issue. We're not
heartless, though – or anti-man; you can still get your Bill McFadyen
fix in these pages.
Read on. I hope you enjoy.
