We had 15 fall pledges and got four more for the spring. Fifteen new guys in the fall is our largest single semester pledge class in a long time. We are growing, but with a new house set for completion by the beginning of next semester, we need to be growing at an even faster rate. Recruit- ment Chairman Ty Murphy '20 has been working nonstop to get in contact with potential new members, and we already have some guys who are interested in joining the house next fall. Our academics have remained strong with a 3.14 GPA last semester. Alpha Iota ranked fifth out of 18 fraternities on campus. That standing isn't exactly where we would like to be, but our GPA was well above the all-student, all-male, and all-Greek GPAs, so we are proud, but not satisfied. Our chapter also participated in Missouri S&T's Greek Week. Alpha Iota's soccer team was crowned as the champion for the first time in a couple of years. The chapter's tug-of-war team defended its title from last year. Lastly, our basketball team had its best finish in recent years after placing second. When all the competitions were complete, Alpha Iota finished fifth out of 18 IFC recognized fraterni- ties. Sigma Pi won the small-house division by a wide margin. The chapter's intramural teams have also been successful. The flag football team won the champion- ship, and the slow-pitch softball team took second in its league. Alpha Iota was involved with Rolla's Boo-Palooza, where we give candy to kids in a trunk-or-treat style. We are always trying to grow and become better, well-rounded men. Every day we try to prove that, at this moment, we are the best Sigma Pi chapter we can be and we strive to be better than the last day.
