These personal visits are important to raise awareness and educate many new staffers on issues that impact us. Like many of you, I am excited about the opportunity to provide lawmakers a progress report since our visit last April and update their offices on our Stand Up to Harvard Campaign. To accomplish our goals, we have restructured our Executive Committee with vice presidents leading three main committees: Communications, Tom Decker, ΔΣΦ; Fundraising, Mike Greenberg, ΣΧ; and Government Affairs, Ben Satcher, Kappa Alpha Order. President-Elect Phyllis Grissom, ΔΔΔ, keeps us all on track with the Strategic Plan with the assistance of former FSPAC President Cheri De Jong, ΣΚ. Adding to the great synergy of this team is Secretary Leslie Williams, ΔΖ, and Treasurer Andrea Bechtel, ΧΩ. Behind a great team of officers is an outstanding full board of some of the Greek world's best leaders. I am grateful to this terrific team of volunteer leaders and look forward to working with them this year. Thank you in advance for answering this call to action and supporting our important cause. Interfraternally, Howard Pickett FSPAC Achieves Significant Milestones (Continued from page 1) Why I Give to the FSPAC I strongly believe that there is still a need in today's world for single-sex organizations. Life seems to be more and more about competition between the sexes and these organizations provide a respite from that. This is true on college campuses as well as other areas of life. I believe that it benefits one's mental health and general outlook on life to have this experience. I also feel strongly that donations to fraternity and sorority house corporations should be tax deductible. I was involved in a housing campaign recently, and it became apparent to me that our organizations are building dorm and eating spaces for universities, enabling them to use their funds for other segments of the college experience. Our housing has to equal all standards of the host institution for safety, handicapped accessibility and internet access, for example. I support the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee, who work on behalf of our organizations to advocate for these issues. Patricia Bradley, ΔΓ Duke University I am an avid supporter of the Greek system and have served on board positions for many fundraisers with my local chapter and national fraternity. The messages and values of the Greek system through FSPAC need to be heard and understood. Those of us who believe in the values should take the time to reflect and give back to the organizations that have made us successful in our careers and personal life. FSPAC is one of those! You can give both time and money to promote the goals and mission of FSPAC. I knew when I left my first FSPAC meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, that I wanted to be a contributor. This is an organization that can impact the leaders of our educational institutions and public lawmakers at the local, state and national level with our value message. I have so much in common with FSPAC's mission and proudly support it.
