He still holds the record for the most people at a concert there when on the fi rst time he played at the QIA, over 1000 people showed up and they had to lock the doors! Even though they were outside, many of those who could not get in stayed near the doors and windows to see what it was all about. Most people knew him from the bookstore and never even knew that he spent over 50 years playing his own brand of boogie woogie and blues to several million people over the years. Paul has been in ill health for 13 months and has had several surger- ies, and is probably going to have to have another one soon. Over last summer they managed to get the music hall he had always wanted, built in the east end of the store. Paul has held nine small concerts over the past three weekends. He is now going to be performing his big concert at the QIA on Tuesday, February 16 at 2 p.m. He will have his band with him including Steve Hohstadt, Mitch Swatez, Buddy Ap- fel, and Gary Reinvault. This will be the last booked perfor- mance he will be doing at the QIA. He will still be available for special events like the annual Spaghetti Dinner and benefi t concerts he is asked to do. He will also be playing down at the bookstore music hall whenever he feels up to it as he gets over his health problems. Be sure to come to the concert at the QIA on Saturday, February 16 at 2 p.m Tickets are $10 at the door. The QIA is located at 235 E. Ironwood St., Quartzsite.
