Crescent Corner A Publication for Alpha Xi Alumnae and Friends by Alpha Xi Alumnae | Winter 2019 A Strong Foundation, A Stronger Future THE CAMPAIGN FOR ALPHA XI Alpha Xi Chapter Announces $1 Million Capital Campaign Will You Answer the Call to Help Renovate 3030 Daniel Avenue? W hen we look back at our own Gamma Phi Beta experiences, we can see how the friendships, leadership, learning, and service opportunities—even decades ago—helped shape who we are today. We are thankful for our close bonds of sisterhood with our Alpha Xi Chapter sisters, for the leadership development that helped us become successful women, and for the countless ways in which membership in Gamma Phi has impacted our lives. Many of those memories and experiences were only possible because we had a home designed to cultivate them. But as time impacts all things, our Alpha Xi home at 3030 Daniel Avenue is in desperate need of upgrades. Will you help our sisters stay competitive by turning our beloved home into a smart, energy-efficient house for our smart, high-energy young women? The SMU Greek community is as strong and competitive as ever, and our 110-plus active sisters are a testament to the hard work put in during recruitment each spring. While Gamma Phi Beta continues to attract outstanding young women, we know there is a significant need to offer improved facilities to our members and a place they can gather for meetings and meals that not only matches the other chapter homes on campus but exceeds them. Given these pressing needs, the Alpha Xi Affiliated House Corporation and campaign committee are proud to announce A Strong Foundation, A Stronger Future: The Campaign for Alpha Xi to secure our legacy at SMU. This campaign will allow Gamma Phi Beta to remodel our facility to fit today's safety standards, collegiate expectations, affordability needs, and maintain historic touches that make us who we are as a sorority. It will also ensure our home will serve as a tool and not be a hinderance when competing for the best and brightest young women on campus for years to come. Early commitments from 23 generous alumnae and friends total more than $310,340. This early support exemplifies the value alumnae place on their Alpha Xi experience and adds to the reason we feel confident that we will reach or exceed our $1 million campaign goal with your help! More details on supporting this effort will be coming soon. As you reflect on the many ways in which Gamma Phi has positively influenced your life, we hope you share our goal in ensuring that the lifelong bonds of Gamma Phi Beta continue for generations to come. We will be honored to have you join our growing list of loyal supporters who are leaving their mark by generously providing for Alpha Xi Chapter's future, just as previous sisters did for all of us. Thank you for your loyalty and support of Gamma Phi Beta at Southern Methodist University.
