Gravette Community Guide A letter from the mayor Citizens of Gravette, F irst, I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve another term as your Mayor. When I came into office in 2015, I placed an emphasis on combining quality of life improvements and infrastructure investments to ensure that Gravette truly remains the "Heart of Hometown America" and I look forward to continuing this momentum during my second term. Once again, the City of Gravette was recognized by SafeWise as one of the top ten safest cities in Arkansas. Home growth is steady and strong and in 2018, permits for new single-family homes had an estimated construction valuation of $5.92 million. Commercial interest is increasing. We recently received building plans for an O'Reilly Auto Parts store and are excited they have chosen Gravette for their next location. In 2019, we hope to begin work on the second phase of the walking trail. is additional, nearly 1-mile loop, will connect to the 1.4-mile loop currently under construction. Paved walking trails are sometimes a luxury that many small towns can't afford, but thanks to more than $1 million dollars in grants and donations we've received that are specifically earmarked for trails, we're able to make safe routes to schools and parks a reality. We'll also be adding a trail around the perimeter of the Hiwasse Park thanks to a $139,000 grant. We'll also be installing a basketball and tennis court there, too. I hope you'll take the time to take a walk down our iconic Main Street and discover a few of the businesses that call Gravette home. We are fortunate to have many of the amenities of a larger town but the close-knit feel of a smaller community. Without leaving town, citizens have access to local pharmacies, three banks, two grocery stores, numerous construction trade businesses, several hair salons, tire and car repair shops, plenty of restaurants, and many retail establishments.
