Indiana Gamma Chapter A Spotlight ShineS on An Active Brother Rob Krahulik '21 Discusses His Indiana Gamma Experience Where are you originally from? What attracted you to your university? I am from Indianapolis, Indiana. I chose to study at Indiana University because I had no clue what I wanted to study after high school, and IU offered the most major options. My decision was probably for the best because I have already changed my major three times in three semesters. What initially made you want to join the ΣAE brotherhood? For better or worse, I tend to follow the paths my older brothers lay out for me. My older brothers, Andrew Krahulik '16 and Joe Krahulik '18, both joined ΣAE at Indiana University. After years of exposure to the house, the people, and the culture of ΣAE, there was no other place I could see myself being when I got to IU. Have you held any positions in your Chapter? If so, what have you learned from those? I currently hold the captaincy of our Little 500 team. As captain, I teach new members how to train safely on the roads, maintain bike equipment, and manage the training schedule of the entire team. The most challenging aspect has been accommodating different availabilities and skill levels when leading training sessions. Do you have a mentor or a brother who has impacted your ΣAE experience? What did they do or how did they help you out? The brothers who have influenced my experience the most are Joe Krahulik, Ryan Tuffnell '18, and Sean Marks '18. Those brothers were the seniors who rode in the Little 500 with me last year. We would spend upwards of 10 hours training together each week, so we got to know each other pretty well. Honestly, this year has felt strange without those guys, but we still talk pretty regularly. What has been your favorite memory or experience as an undergraduate? The best memory I have made so far is representing ΣAE in the 2018 Little 500. Competing behind the support of the entire house was surreal. How do you think ΣAE helped you become who you are today? ΣAE has added structure and support into my life. Without ΣAE I do not think I would have as strong of a sense of belonging at IU. What activities are you involved in outside of ΣAE? What advice would you give to younger undergraduates about the importance of getting involved? I am involved with the Student Foundation and the IU's club cycling team. My involvements beyond ΣAE have greatly expanded my social circle by allowing me to make friends with other people who share similar passions. What is your major? What do your future plans include? I am currently studying accounting and hope to work somewhere like Colorado or California doing whatever pays the bills. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Outside of reading the occasional book, my favorite hobbies are fitness related. I enjoy cycling in the areas surrounding Bloomington, observing nature, weightlifting, and shooting hoops.
