Tyler Shrewsbury graduated from Walkertown High School, received his Third Degree from Kernersville #669, returned his Third Degree catechism, and has joined the United States Navy. Ty- ler's father and current Master of the Kernersville Masonic Lodge, Clifford Shrewsbury, says Tyler is currently completing his training in the Navy. Meanwhile, in October, brothers celebrated when Bob Vandy was raised to the sublime Degree of a Master Mason. His 94-year-old father, Jack Weiss, was there and raised his son. CHAPEL HILL – University #408 held a unique ceremony this fall, recognizing new Eagle Scouts in Mawat District, BSA. This event was held Aug. 6 in conjunction with the lodge's monthly fellowship dinner. A Grand Lodge committee chaired by Worshipful Brother Ludwik Wodka is exploring ways to honor Scouts and build better ties between Masonry and Scouting. Currently, Scouts earning the Eagle award can be given a certificate from Grand Lodge congratu- lating them on their achievement. Plans are being developed for how best to roll this program out statewide. GREENSBORO – Good fences make good neighbors – and a great fence around the new pool being built at the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford will help keep everyone safe. Each MHCO board member donated funds to pay for the fence as part of the "Make a Splash" cam- paign to raise money to replace the old pool that has aged beyond repair. At left, Jeffrey Hensley, chief development officer of the North Carolina Masonic Founda- tion, presents a plaque recognizing the board's generosity to board Chairman and Past Grand Master Dewey Preslar.
