KAPPA DELTA | NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY PAGE 2 PURSING EXCELLENCE Chapter Achieves Highest Overall GPA, Receives Best Scholarship Program Award I t has been a busy fall semester for Sigma Psi, and to kickoff the semester, we began with Spirit Week and prepared for recruitment. The chapter came back excited to start a new semester after hearing we earned the highest overall GPA in the Greek community with 3.419. This is the third consecutive semester of earning this high achievement! Our chapter has worked hard to improve our academic excellence program with weekly study challenges and by working with our academic chairmen to ensure we are properly supporting our sisters' academics. This hard work has paid off as 11 members earned scholarships last semester, and the chapter received the Best Scholarship Program Award at NDSU's Greek Awards. Growing Our Chapter Sigma Psi had a successful recruitment weekend in September where we added 22 new members to our chapter. They have been working diligently to learn Kappa Delta and Sigma Psi's history and values, and we were delighted to initiate them into our sisterhood on November 4. Connecting with Alumnae The next event for Sigma Psi was Homecoming, which was a great opportunity to see so many alumnae come back for brunch at the chapter house. The chapter connected with sisters and shared memories of living in the house and their time at NDSU. Following brunch, the House Corporation hosted their annual meeting. Remembering Our Late Sister Following Homecoming weekend, the chapter enjoyed having Julie Landgren Johnson '76 attend our chapter meeting and share her Kappa Delta experience with active members. At the end of September, Sigma Psi hosted a flag football tournament in memory of Ellie Helm '15. It was great to see the NDSU community come together to support our chapter. During the event, we raised more than $1,000 for the Elli Helm Foundation. Dedicated to Engagement Our members are involved on campus and serve in a number of leadership positions. Mariah Schafer '16 and Courtney Lock '16 serve on Panhellenic Council, Dani Girtz '15 and I were initiated into Blue Key Honor Society this fall, and Greta Fritz '17 is a co-founder of the Women in Business Club, just to name a few. We are proud of our members' accomplishments and activities, and our presence on campus and in the community is well noticed. With the end of the semester quickly approaching, we look forward to another successful semester while we strive for that which is honorable, beautiful, and highest.
