NWA MEDIA PROMOTIONAL SUPPLEMENT • FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2013 BEST OF THE BEST 63 y nominating Washington Regional in several categories, readers of NWA Media publications recognize the hospital's commitment to the com- munity. "For more than 63 years, Washington Regional has exemplified commitment to our patients and to the community of Northwest Arkansas, and it's rewarding for our outstanding team to see this reflected in the Best of the Best poll," says Bill Bradley, Washington Regional president and CEO. Washington Regional is consistently named the area's healthcare provider of choice by a variety of inde - pendent agencies, Bradley says. For the past 10 years, Washington Regional has earned the Consumer Choice Award, which identifies hospitals whose consumers have recognized them for providing the highest quality health - care. Additionally, Washington Regional Medical Center is the only hospital in Northwest Arkansas — and one of only four in the state — to have earned an "A" Hospital Safety Score in Spring 2013 by a nonprofit national agency dedi - cated to patient safety. The Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce recently named Washington Regional "Best Large Business." In presenting the Excellence in Business awards Sept. 10, Chamber President and CEO Steve Clark noted that Washington Regional has grown into a national leader in healthcare quality by creating innovative programs such as the state's first community hospital intensivist program and the area's first Team Response to Extremes (TREX) program. The award-winning TREX initiative has been adopted by hundreds of healthcare providers worldwide. Washington Regional also demonstrates its commit - ment to the community, Bradley says, by establishing cen- ters of excellence to serve a variety of health needs: • Walker Heart Institute — Washington Regional continues to provide the only cardiac care program in Northwest Arkansas that has achieved accreditation by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care as both a Chest Pain Center and in Heart Failure. Washington Re - gional was the first hospital in Arkansas — and 23rd in the U.S. — to achieve dual accreditation. • Johnelle Hunt Women's Center — Comprehen- sive healthcare services are provided for women at all stages of life, with an experienced staff of obstetricians/ gynecologists at Her Health women's clinic as well as anesthesiologists, neonatologists, pediatricians and fam - ily practice physicians. New moms are assured of access to a full range of hospital services if needed, including a Level III neonatal intensive care unit. • Total Joint Center — This comprehensive program for joint replacement surgery patients provides specialized education and a team of surgeons and staff focused ex - clusively on their recovery and rehabilitation. Patient edu- cation and support begins at the time joint replacement is first considered and continues throughout surgery and the recovery process. Patients work closely with a multidisci- plinary team that specializes in the latest joint replacement techniques. • Robotic-Assisted Surgery — Washington Re- gional offers minimally invasive surgery with the da Vinci Si, the most advanced robotic-assisted surgery system available in Northwest Arkansas. The robotic-assisted sur- gery team at Washington Regional was specially trained in using the da Vinci Si and delivers high-quality minimally invasive robotic urologic procedures, including prostate cancer surgery. • Level 2 Trauma Center — Washington Regional Medical Center earned Level 2 Trauma Center designation from the Arkansas Department of Health in March 2012, having met rigorous requirements and making a commit - ment of staff and equipment to provide advanced care to patients with life-threatening injuries. As the area's only Level 2 Trauma Center, Washington Regional provides the highest level of emergency care in Northwest Arkansas. • Pat Walker Center for Seniors — Washington Regional is one of the few medical systems in the na - tion to dedicate an entire facility to providing unparalleled care for seniors. What began with the development of the Senior Clinic in 2005 — in response to many patients age 65+ struggling to get a doctor's appointment with com - munity physicians — evolved into the Pat Walker Center for Seniors, encompassing healthcare, exercise and com- munity outreach. Washington Regional allocated more than $16 million last year to charity care, uncompensated care and local health services such as Northwest Arkansas Free Health Center, to help meet the needs of the entire community. "As the area's only not-for-profit, community-owned and locally governed healthcare system, Washington Re - gional is committed to providing comprehensive health outreach services throughout Northwest Arkansas," Brad- ley says.
