Ann Standley, administrator of the private-pay, Level II community, explains her father Dr. Warren Bathke planned the senior residential complex. He and his wife unexpectedly became two of the first residents when her reha - bilitation after surgery in late 2007 ne- cessitated accessible living quarters. Standley handles the books. Her daughter, as assistant administrator, works directly with residential care. Standley's son and daughter-in-law are involved as well. Standley's grandchildren by her daughter, two little girls, are popu - lar visitors to The Meadows a few times a week. Their slogan, "our family caring for your family with honor, dignity and re- spect," is to be taken literally, Standley said. They treat employees well, which in turn ensures the best care for residents. The Meadows, 2300 S.E. 28th St., has 65 apartments or suites for inde - pendent or assisted living for people age 55 or older and has a secure, Level II memory care unit. A shorthand way of understanding state licensing classifica- tions is that the staff of Level I facilities can remind residents about medications and Level II employees can administer medicines, Standley said.
