As we at The Jewelry Book (TJB) prepare for the holiday season, we have also been fi ne-tuning plans for our own future and are happy to share some exciting changes with you. I am delighted to announce that I have named award-winning editor Jennifer Heebner as our editor in chief! Jennifer has been a contributing editor to TJB over the past two years, and during that time we realized how easy it was for us to work together. We enjoy a robust professional chemistry that involves strategizing growth for the industry we both love, and, as so many great partnerships begin, our shared enthusiasm, experience (22 years for me and 20-plus for Jennifer), and goals led us to a lightbulb moment: Let's combine our efforts to strengthen the offerings in this 14-year-old trade magazine and reach the jewelry-loving consumer through Jennifer's epony- mous consumer-oriented website and on-the-street video interviews. No one in our industry is doing this, so we are excited to reach both trade and consumer audiences and promote our adver- tisers in both niches. If you wholesale your work to stores, reach the top retailers in the nation through ads in TJB. If you sell directly to consumers, get jewelry lovers' eyeballs on your work on JenniferHeebner.com with direct links to your e-store or to specifi c pieces on your website or that of a retailer of your choosing. This new direction just feels right personally, as it allows me to concentrate on sales— fellow small business owners know how hard it is to wear multiple hats. Our fresh, col- laborative focus will provide compelling print and online content and accomplish the goal of marrying trade and consumer media that will drive attention to your brands in a cost-effective way. Of course, I'm also incredibly grateful to my art director Shawn Sherbondy, who designs our consistently beautiful magazine. Shawn routinely channels my vision and brings it to life in every issue. Additionally, Barbara Palumbo will continue to write about timepiece trends as our senior watch editor, and we will see her contributing more across other topics in the future. I am so proud to work with these talented individuals and so thankful for their consistent loyalty and belief in TJB. TJB has a lot in common with readers and advertisers in that we, too, are a lean mom-and- pop outfi t that values personal relationships—many built on the foundation of just a hand- shake—in business. Like you, we are small but thinking BIG, and we value what's important to you, your needs, and your support for this independently owned and operated luxury publishing house. Thank you for your faith in us and patronage, and watch us grow in this new, exciting next phase. Please turn the page to read Jennifer's fi rst editor's letter, in which she explains our refreshed direction and what you can expect to fi nd on the pages and issues ahead. Questions? Comments? I'd love to hear from you. Reach me at Nicole@thejewelrybook.com. Van Craeynest
