THE FORGET-ME-NOT 2 Memorial Garden Update I n 2015, the House Corporation Board began a project to beautify and utilize the side yard outside the dining room and sunroom. A legacy gift bestowed by Audrey Smith Wilson '47 was used to build a lovely patio, where the chapter holds barbecues, movie screenings, and sisterhood events. To complete the yard, alumnae were invited to dedicate stones for an adjacent pathway garden. With each Homecoming and reunion, more alumnae saw the stones, and more were ordered, completing the walkway along the side of the house. Four benches have been dedicated: to Patti Scoville '86 by her 1986 classmates, to "The Women of Delta Chapter 1987-1990" given by Bonnie Gould Rothberg '90, and at Homecoming 2018, two more were dedicated in memory of Carolyn DeWilde Casswell '90 and Sara Beth Canaday, Omicron '61, an alumna who served many years on the House Corporation Board. Future Homecoming and reunion gatherings will include a ceremony so that whenever you visit you can take part. As interest in engraved stones has continued, a Phase II is planned for additional stones to link the garden pathway to the front walkway. The cost for each stone will be $425. To install by Homecoming 2019, orders must be in place by January 15, 2019. If you are interested in having a stone engraved, please contact Sue Guarnaschelli Collins '89 at sg225@cornell. edu for an order template and payment instructions. Visit the alumnae website and sign in to see pictures of the garden and close-ups of each stone and bench. Learn more at cornellalphaphi.org/memorial-garden/.
