BUILDING ON A SOLID FOUNDATION EPSILON OMICRON NEWS A PUB L IC A TIO N O F A L PHA TA U O MEG A F R A TER NITY OK L A HO MA S TA TE UNIV ER S ITY s F A L L 2018 B rothers, our focus continues to be the development of plans for the future of our Chapter to ensure Ep- silon Omicron remains competitive with other fraternities and housing options at Oklahoma State. As we move into fall, football, and Homecoming, the Hous- ing Corporation continues to move forward with a strategic plan for future housing for Epsilon Omicron Chapter. Specifically, we have engaged the ser- vices of an architectural firm. Thank you to the team of EO broth- ers, many with architecture or construction experience, who in- terviewed several well-respected architecture firms, and shared who they preferred and why with the Housing Corporation. Armed with this information, the decision was made by the Housing Corporation to hire Bockus-Payne, a well-es- tablished 30-year-old firm located in Oklahoma City. They have worked on several fraternity and sorority houses at Oklahoma State and the University of Okla- homa. We are continuing to implement other recommendations from the feasibility study including developing a fundraising plan, ex- ploring possible alternative housing during the remodel or new construction, and forming a finance committee to investigate options for possible short-term and long-term construc- tion financing. Anyone interested in helping us with this endeavor, please contact me. As we move into historic territory for Epsilon Omicron, it is probably evident to all brothers that support in various forms is going to be re- quired to achieve our goals. Nationally, frater- nities are in the crosshairs as a string of deaths due to alcohol and hazing has sparked conver- sation about the future of Greek life. With the negative publicity, it would be natural for one to be hesitant to support such a culture. I've been heavily involved with the Chapter since 1990. At no time have I had a greater confidence in the culture of our Chapter than I do right now. This has not happened by acci- dent, but rather by design. Ten years ago, we decided we needed to recruit with the ideals of our founding fathers. Simply, we recruit young men with character. Young men who believe that a fraternity founded on Chris- tian values and principles is a fraternity that is unique and offers a brotherhood unlike any other fraternity at Oklahoma State. I'm proud of our culture at EO. Our chapter is what other chapters, not just at OSU, but across the coun- try will strive to emulate or they will cease to exist as is already the case on many campuses. Support, this is what I ask you to consider. Support for your brotherhood that has, is and will continue to develop young men who suc- ceed, contribute, and serve. Love and Respect, Dan Oliver '78 House Corporation President osuollie@hotmail.com (405) 740-2628 Bockus-Payne Hired to Develop Housing Plans Above: Our wonder- ful recruitment team signed 38 pledges for the fall.
