Real Stories. WOMAN North Bay At the photo shoot! M inimalism - Memories - Men! These three trends organically shaped this issue. Zero waste is a mindful topic that needs more attention, and we have one of our readers to thank for suggesting it. Becoming a zero waste heroine takes planning and commitment, and we salute the lifestyle. Bea Johnson's journey of becoming a minimalist is frightening and inspiring all at the same time. Posing with Johnson showing the "zero signal," learning how she mixes her own makeup, that she only has 15 pieces in her wardrobe, and that her family follows along, was truly enlight- ening. There is so much that we can learn from her. Many additional examples of minimalism are scattered throughout this issue. How many can you fi nd? Making memories is a theme that is intertwined through several stories. Johnson's zero waste life is all about the zest for life, not the stuff. Krista Gawronski's home and design "Grateful Table" feature shares ideas of how to upcycle and to appreciate our blessings with family and friends. From our Food feature, the Connaughtons' memorable SingleThread dining expe- rience is sure to last a lifetime, and the Langwell holiday traditions, in the Relation- ship story, show how you can thoughtfully merge old memories while making new ones. Not much is more beautiful than remembering a wedding as you will see in the Fashion section: #autumnalbliss, #winterlove. What's on your memory-making to do list this fall-holiday season? Men! For the fi rst time we have included a male voice in our Relationship, story which is co-written by one of our own NBW team members and author, Shawn Langwell. Staff Gifts feature a favorite multi-functional product de- signed by Tyler Newman, a Tamalpais High School graduate. Special shout-outs to our talented photographer, Stuart Lirette, our fearless leader and publisher, Rob Devincenzi, and to my support team, George Wagner and our son Gage. Thank you each for your meaningful roles in the making of NBW. I hope you enjoy this issue, and as you go about your day to day, I challenge you to remember to, "Ask the right questions, and the answers will always reveal themselves." - Oprah. – Happy holidays, Lori Bea Johnson's natural beauty was easy for hairstylist and beauty consultant, Heather Walsh, to work with. Her all natural products, free of harsh chemicals, radiated on Johnson's fl awless skin and sparkling eyes. As we moved around to different locations, Walsh kept Johnson's tresses in place under her signature beret. – Photos by Stuart Lirette
