DDD Delta Xi Chapter at the University of Missouri Fall 2018 Delta Xi Welcomes New House Director and Head Chef Move-in Day a Success A s always, this fall brought some changes to 901 Richmond Avenue. We welcomed Kay Flippo as our new house director, we have a new head chef, and 72 new women moved into the Chapter House to experience sorority living. Some things, however, never change, like the smiles and hugs of sisters reunited after summer break. Move-in day went smoothly thanks to the efforts of the young men hired by the House Corporation to help girls carry everything but the kitchen sink to their rooms. Thank you to our amazing House Corporation members, who never fail to rise to the occasion when needed. We experienced the normal road bumps after move-in with air conditioners freezing up, toilets clogging, and blown fuses—more things that never change. On a lighter note, all of our summer projects, repairs, and cleaning were completed on time, and both the house and the landscaping looked amazing. The House Corporation continues the challenge of meeting the growing needs of 901 Richmond and continues to explore options for financing future upkeep and improvements. We hope you always remember your days at 901 Richmond and keep Tri Delta at top of mind. Loyally, Debbie Walz Austin '73 House Corporation President daustin79@mchsi.com T he fall semester is underway here at Mizzou and the Delta Xi Chapter is thrilled about the season we have in store. After a very successful fall recruitment, we are excited to introduce the wonderful group of young women we have welcomed into our chapter; we are positive they will carry on and strengthen our Tri Delta values. Triple Play Our first philanthropic event of the school year, Triple Play, was on September 23. In an effort to make Triple Play even larger, our director of philanthropy extended the invitation for softball teams to include sororities. We hope that this inclusion has spread our love for St. Jude to all the amazing chapters of the Mizzou Panhellenic Association, Multicultural Greek Council, and National Panhellenic Council. We are committed to supporting other chapter's philanthropic events and love when they attend ours in return! In Memory of Lizzy Wampler Delta Xi also participated in Lizzy's Walk of Faith on September 15. Lizzy Wampler was a patient at St. Jude and a member of the Columbia community who many of our members grew to know and love. Lizzy passed away in March due to an aggressive battle with osteosarcoma. As a chapter, we have supported Lizzy in her journey, raised money, and collected gifts for her and her family. The chapter decided last spring to dedicate the money raised this year in memory of Lizzy Wampler. We are passionate about continually growing our relationship with her family and were honored to work closely with her parents on the 5K. Our members volunteered and ran, and the Golden Girls cheered on at the fundraising event. Proceeds from Lizzy's Walk of Faith will be donated to St. Jude. Save the Date Our Founders Day will be held in November. I look forward to this event, as we will be welcoming the new 2019 slated officers. I want to thank the alumnae and the volunteers who work with our chapter and who have strengthened Delta Xi. I also want to thank our members and officers who continue to help this chapter grow and foster the strong character of Delta Xi women. Delta Love, Brooke Madison '15, Chapter President | blm4p8@mail.missouri.edu Delta Xi Excels Philanthropically Delta Xi has worked hard this past year to raise $136,665 for St. Jude patients and their families. The pledge class of '15 enjoyed celebrating our fundraising milestone.
