G reetings from the Affiliated Corporation Board (affiliated is new for us but International added it—no real change for Sigma). We meet monthly with the chapter officers, enjoy dinner, and remain creative with the challenges of our old house, always hoping we can afford the necessary project! We remain very dedicated. Our big expense this summer was a new roof costing $99,000! Many, many repairs had been made, but too many leaks continued. Sigma has a beautiful new roof that will last decades. New hardwood floors for the formal living room, trophy room, front hall, and front stairs must be addressed next year. The renovation of the old basement laundry room is on the "need" list. We invite you to visit 1339 West Campus Road. The chapter and our wonderful House Director Susan Harper welcome YOU! Thanks to Christie Kroeger '87, the Crimson and Blue has made its way to her home in Tampa, Fla., the pyramids of Egypt, and the icy tundra of Antarctica. Christie has a passion for travel and after reaching all seven continents, she's now working her way through the 195 countries of the world. In each destination, Christie documents her travels with a photo, proudly holding a KU flag for all to see. In addition to travel, Christie spends her spare time doing anything health and fitness related, attending music festivals, or volunteering. She also remains involved with Gamma Phi Beta through the Tampa Bay Alumnae Chapter, where she has served as the communications chairwoman since 2006 and took over the vice presidency position for the 2018- 2020 biennium. In June, Christie attended the Gamma Phi Convention in Dallas, where she was awarded the Shining Star Award, one of five individual awards given at Convention, recognizing her for her direct community involvement and contributions to the sorority. "I was shocked to receive the award, but I was also extremely honored and very excited! It really means a lot to me." Looking back on her undergraduate years, Gamma Phi Beta helped Christie develop her communication skills, learn how to interact with differing personalities, and improve her time management skills. "There's a lot to juggle in college and it only seems to multiply after graduation," she said. "Also, I didn't know a single person when I moved to Tampa, so it was comforting to instantly have a group of sisters/friends to support me." Although she lives states away, Christie has remained friends with Sigma sisters and can still remember competing in Rock Chalk Revue, tailgating, sister bonding, and the Jayhawk's win during the NCAA men's basketball championship in 1988. Today, Christie works in Tampa in the real estate finance industry, but enjoys visiting Kansas City to spend time with friends and family (and to eat some great BBQ!).
