Page 5 S A E T hanks to the tremendous effort from our House Corporation, the second phase of the renovation work on the chapter house was completed on time, and the house looks fantastic. As brothers moved in, they were pleas- antly surprised with the central A/C throughout the house to keep them cool as they worked through the heat. Recruitment We are currently housing 93 members of the chapter. Timely completion of the renovation allowed us to transition smoothly into our recruitment events. I'm proud to report we recruited 35 new members. Academics Our chapter continues to achieve academic excel- lence. Our cumulative GPA stands at a 3.04 due to the hard work from more than 130 active members. Our chapter just passed new bylaws which outline a mentorship program within the house to aid students who may be struggling with their schoolwork. Philanthropy As a chapter, we are hoping to raise $10,000 in philanthropic donations. Our Paddy Murphy Week, which ran September 23-29, along with No-Shave November, are our major philanthropic events this semester. Campus Involvement One area for growth this upcoming semester relates to campus involvement. I would like to see members not only join outside organizations, but also hold meaningful positions in these organizations. One member who stands out is Jon Gaide '18. Jon is the public relations chairman for PUDM, the largest student-run philanthropic organization on campus. In a time where Greek life is perishing on some universities, Sigma Alpha Epsilon remains one of the only large chapters on Purdue's campus in good standing with the university. Maintaining a positive image on campus will be a priority for the chapter to prosper in the future. Jon Gaide '18, Andrew Hartkorn '20, Sam Rice '19, Kevin Schlotman '19, Kyle Stallings '19, and AJ Rice '21 kick-start the recruitment season. Potential new members are able to speak to all fraternities on campus and learn more about them at the "Meet the Greeks" event. Sam Rice '19, Jack Rau '20, Ernest Harshman '19, and Stephen Binstock '19 were inducted into the Order of Omega, an honorary society for the top 5% of Greek students on campus.
