I would advise them to have their students plan for tomorrow with the end goal in sight. ere are many obstacles for the adult learner, so don't assume you know what is going on with a student—talk to them. Sometimes adults are less forthright with what is troubling them, as they are used to handling problems on their own and they don't know how to ask for help. Be proactive with your students. Why are professional development and continuing education important to you? To keep learning! e spark I receive when I can pass on what I have learned to my students is wonderful. You can and will learn something new each day if you have an open mind. Professional development and continuing education helps keep me fresh, not only on topics of interest but also on the delivering of education to my students. I always try to bring in new information. Change is good and necessary! What's one thing you think career education leaders can do to improve institutional performance? I think everyone should take the time to be in a classroom. Sometimes decisions are made before knowing what instructors are truly doing with student learning. Evaluation of the classroom experience oen creates new dialogue, which can be used to enhance the student's educational experience. Looking at the student's learning experience from different viewpoints can bring to light opportunities for improvement and enhanced experiences for the student and the instructor. CHEP Certification The CHEP certification recognizes employees of career schools, colleges, and universities who strive for excellence in their respective positions, with the ultimate goal of enabling institutions to develop high- performing, compliant, and ethical employees to better serve students. CHEPs have successfully completed forty- eight hours of approved training in their area of concentration and are required to complete eight hours of approved training annually to maintain their certification.
