FARMINGTON — Cody Napier takes over as head coach of Farmington Junior High football for 2018 replacing Tracy Sutton, who went to administration as an assis- tant principal. Napier was the head coach at Rogers Elmore last year. He has nine years of experience coaching football. Napier began as a volunteer assistant at Conway, then coached at his native Greenland before winding up at Rogers for the past six years. "I'm very excited to be here at Farm- ington Junior High, got some great coaches, got some great people and great players," Napier said. During his tenure at Rogers, the Mounties did not compete head-to-head against Farmington at the junior high level. Napier was born and raised in Green- land, attending grades K-12 there. Napier played football grades 7 through 12 at Greenland when Sutton was head coach for the Pirates. "My family has some good ties there," Napier said. "I come from a farming family that raised a lot of cattle, baled a lot of hay, I did some of that grit work and that's what I did as a kid. Go home from football practice and get to the house and build a fence, so I've just been used to working my entire life. I enjoy staying busy. I enjoy football." Napier earned a bachelor's degree in secondary social studies and teaches ninth grade U.S. history at Farmington. "It's a great opportunity to be able to coach football and teach, and get to spend time with my family, as well," Napier said. Napier and his wife, Heather, have been married for eight years. The couple have two children: Eli, 3 and Ella, six months. "I've got a 3-year-old son and he's going to be going to school in a couple of years and I'd like to be in a district like this, K-12, with the same kids from kindergarten through 12th grade," Napier said. "That was a big motivator for me to get in here to Farmington." Overview "A lot of these boys played last year as eighth graders for our freshmen team," Napier said.
