SOCCER: Team Focuses On The Basics CROSS COUNTRY: Health Is Priority De La Torre said it will be closer to game time before he decides on forma- tion and style of play they will employ. "Right now we are just working on basics," De La Torre said. "We are work- ing on passing and defending and those kinds of things. I haven't really decided what kind of formation we are going to play. I am waiting for school to start for more guys to decide. Once we get closer to game time and have more guys I will figure that out. We will probably change some things around and try some new things during the season. We will just play it by ear and see what the guys like and what they adjust to best." De La Torre said several kids from last year have not started yet, the ones who have showed up are a good group. "For the most part, the kids are work- ing hard," De La Torre said. "We have been going from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. every day. They work hard and they like to have fun. They all get along really well. They all know each and like each other. It's a fun group." McDonald County opens the season on Aug. 28 at the Cassville Tournament. The Mustangs' home opener is set for Sept. 4 against Riverton, Kan.
