A PUBLICATION FOR ALUMNI, PARENTS, AND FRIENDS OF BISHOP SEABURY ACADEMY 2018 FALL A s we reflect on our 20th anniversary, it has been an opportunity to appreciate our history, reinforce the bonds across our community, and celebrate the impressive achievements of a school that is only two decades old. We published a history book to record the remarkable vision, dedication, hard work, and investment of the many people who made this school a success story: founders, parents, staff, and students. In 20 years, we have grown from 32 to 224 students. Several of our grades now have waiting lists, and we have been recognized nationally for academic success and our unique culture. This year begins with a sense of determination as we look ahead. What seemed like a spacious campus in 2003, with 108 students, is no longer sufficient to answer our needs. We have been fortunate to retain committed and dedicated teachers as well as talented, enthusiastic, and ambitious students. However, in order for them to thrive, they need resources and proper room to grow. At present, we have too many teachers who must share classrooms. Our commons is a tight fit at lunch and morning meeting. And with growing concerns nationally about the safety of students, we need facilities that will provide security for our students and staff. Key Priorities of Renovation and Expansion of Campus 1 Provide classroom space and proper resources for each of our teachers. Presently, more than 12 of our teachers share classrooms and four are relegated to portable classrooms. 2 Connect our buildings, eliminate the portable classrooms, and put the entire school under one roof, providing greater security for students and staff. 3 Offer our administrators proper accommodations in an office complex connected to a secured main entrance to the facility. 4 Provide our science teachers with intentional classrooms designed to support the teaching of that discipline. 5
