Page 2 A s discussed earlier in this report, the Educational Foundation's largest investment this year was the Dining and Learning for the 21st Century project. During the last two years, the Foundation has generously received approximately $82,000 in restricted donations, which we contributed back to the project this year along with some additional funds from our portfolio. Our portfolio's size was reduced from $213,306 to $130,151, a de- crease of $83,155, primarily due to the Foundation's overall contri- bution of $110,489 toward the Learning Commons project. Invest- ment performance returned 11.92% on a net basis versus a similarly weighted composite index return of 11.53%. We continue to main- tain and diversify our holdings among liquid mutual and exchange traded funds with 75% of funds in equity, roughly 80% domestic and 20% international, and 25% in short-term fixed income and cash. The portfolio allocation was generally held constant throughout the year, although a reduction in our international holdings was implemented toward the end of calendar year 2017, as non-dollar currencies had moved significantly higher, and international equity markets became somewhat extended. We would like to thank all of our generous sup- porters this year for their gifts totaling $51,171. It is a bittersweet moment for me to send my final report as treasurer of the Educational Foundation. I took on the role while still in gradu- ate school at Cornell back in 2012 and am proud to have served in that capacity for the past six years in addition to my two years as president. I look forward to continuing to support our initiatives as a Foundation board member.
