We've said goodbye to the old Chapter House and welcomed a new era for 923 University Avenue. Some alumni may have been saying, "I'll believe it when I see it." It's now time to believe. While starting the construction phase is exciting, we still have nearly $1.4 million to raise toward our $4.5 million goal. To date, our dedicated alumni and friends have committed more than $3 million. Our goal is to raise another $1 million by August 18. e project is a reality, and we need the support of every brother to achieve success. e future of our Chapter depends not only on our undergraduate members, but also on the strength and support of alumni. Our four short years as collegiate members gave us more than incredible memories and indelible friendships; it made us who we are today. It is our duty as lifetime members in Lambda Chi Alpha to ensure our home has a future deserving of its already grand legacy. ere has never been a better time to make your commitment to the Riding for the Brand: 100 Years, Pride-Loyalty-Brotherhood campaign. Now is not the time to hold back—it is time for action. e legacy that you diligently built during college continues today, but we must all do our part as alumni to ensure that it stands for many more generations. I encourage you to use the enclosed form to make your gi to Alpha Eta. No matter what you are able to give, every gi counts and can be made over a five-year period to accommodate any budget. is project requires all of us. In Z.A.X., Steve Holton AH910, Campaign Chairman steve@cnbpoteau.com Groundbreaking Sets Construction in Motion Help Us Reach $4 Million is August Alpha Eta's Survival: The Impetus for John Allford's Support of Riding for the Brand Campaign W hen John Allford AH957 reflects on his days as an Alpha Eta undergraduate, the time spent with his pledge brothers is what he most fondly recalls. Simply participating in fraternity and university functions is how John's pride, loyalty, and brotherhood developed—and have lasted for nearly 50 years. John grew up in a small town, so joining a fraternity as an OSU student seemed to be the most beneficial avenue for a successful future. He says Lambda Chi Alpha was the perfect fit for him. e fraternity helped him "develop social skills and communication skills. Networking with your brothers in the course of life is a rewarding adventure." Several older members were influential in John's experience, including Jerry Greer AH927, Chris Conn AH930, and John Jameson AH944, who all understood "that you are in school first and foremost to receive an education." An accounting major, John graduated in 1972 with a bachelor of science. His career developed from family businesses in oil and gas investments, such as drilling projects and buying/selling mineral interests. (Continued on page 3)
