Looking Back and Moving Forward
competitions
are aimed
at creating
educational
opportunities for
contestants.
"The reason
we do a community
based pageant is
because it's geared more
toward girls that normally
don't do pageants," DaMayla
explained. "This pageant is geared toward building self-confidence
and giving a scholarship opportunity."
DaMayla said that all girls, even if they have never considered
entering a pageant, should give it a try.
"We really like for first-timers to come out and try this," she said.
"They end up absolutely loving it. Over the past two years we've had
girls do the pageants that have never done it before. They love it and
are building their self confidence up."

What makes Gravette a community that's a great place to live?
It's the people and small town atmosphere. It's a clean town.
Schools are great and people don't mind waving when they pass by.
What is your favorite memory of Gravette Day?
My grandchildren riding on school floats and little ones chasing the
candy tossed their way.
What do you want people to know about Gravette and Gravette
Day?
Gravette is a wonderful place to
raise a family. Gravette Day
is a community gathering;
meeting friends, eat some
great food and see a
parade.
What is the most
exciting thing about
Gravette Day?
The chili cook-off and
of course the parade.
Meeting friends. I've
lived here 21 years
and I don't plan on
moving.
