At present, there are over 1,040 living Psi Alumni. As we said when we em- barked on Phase 1, we need a high level of commitments to meet our goals. For Phase 1, 240 Alumni made pledges totaling more than $1.6 million demonstrating the importance of this project to the Brotherhood. We urge each alumnus to consider a gift to the campaign to support Phase 2 and complete the total project. And if you already donated, consider what your investment has already produced and be assured that any further contributions will be likewise devoted to completing the total project. To help donors maximize their gifts, the Campaign Board has designed the cam- paign with our Alumni in mind. Campaign Committee. Bret Holden '83 continues to serves as campaign co-chairman for the Psi Chapter: Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future campaign. Jim Mallon '81 will succeed Steve Herbert '68 as the other co-chairman. Tax Deductibility. The Internal Revenue Service will al- low exclusive educational space in the newly constructed Chap- ter House to be funded with tax-deductible dollars that are gift- ed through the Sigma Chi Foundation and designated for the Psi Chapter. With only a portion of the project meeting this stipula- tion, the need for non-tax-deductible gifts is great. Accordingly, we are asking the majority of donors to direct their gift to the UVA Fund on a non-tax-deductible basis. However, donors who are able to pledge $50,000 or more over five years are invited to direct their pledge through the Sigma Chi Foundation on a tax-de- ductible basis. Payment Options. Pledges can be fulfilled as a one-time gift or through annual installments spread over five years. The five-year giving plan may start at a future time to allow more flex- ibility for donors. Giving Back to Sigma Chi Matching Gifts and Tax Benefits on Gifts of Securities. If your employer offers a matching gift program, this gift may be eligible. Also, gifts of securities may also offer significant tax advantages to the donor. For professional advice, please consult your tax advisor. Recognizing Loyal Donors. Special naming oppor- tunities and a framed campaign memento will be available to Alumni offering gifts of $25,000 and above. All donors contrib- uting $2,500 or more will be recognized on a prominently dis- played plaque in the Chapter House. Unless otherwise requested, donors contributing a minimum of $1,000 to the campaign will be recognized in print publications. Names will appear by cate- gory, relative to the size of the gift. Gifts in honor or in memory of Brothers, as well as family and pledge class gifts, are wel- comed. Recognition in such cases will be given to both the donor and the honoree.
