Enroll now for Fall 2018 to work toward a AAS degree in Industrial Technology Parker, AZ – Arizona Western Col- lege is expanding their offerings in La Paz County with the launch of a new trades program. They're kicking off a new Associ- ate in Applied Science Degree pro- gram in Industrial Technology this fall by offering TEC 100, a core cur- riculum introductory skills course. The class will prepare students for certifi cates or degrees in technology and trades. Participants will become profi cient in techniques necessary for the con- struction/industrial maintenance industry according to National Cen- ter for Construction Education Re- search standards. "What is so great about this course is that it provides a foundation for individuals who are interested in en- tering into a trades/technical fi eld," said Kathy Ocampo, AWC Associate Dean for La Paz County Services. "We are really excited to offer more courses that support developing technical based knowledge which also provides training for those en- tering the workforce or those look- ing to re-brand their future career choices. Our plan is to continue to support economic development by providing programs that will aid in continuing to strengthen the local workforce." The AAS degree in Industrial Tech- nology will also include welding, electrical, employee and occupa- tional safety, and other trade-based coursework, and includes general education requirements such as math, English, science, and more. Eligibility for English 100 or an ap- propriate reading score is required to take the TEC 100 course. Stu- dents can make an appointment to take a placement exam. Those interested in taking the TEC 100 course should contact the AWC Parker Learning Center at (928) 669-2214.
