emember that cold, wet
spring that seemed to
last forever? Yeah, me
neither.
Well, I do have fuzzy memories
but they're being melted away by the
searing summer heat. Yay! at's
what summer is supposed to be,
right? Iced tea in condensation-
dotted glasses, late evening sunsets,
chlorinated swimming pools and
salty ocean waters, outdoor concerts
and plays and restaurants, sunglasses
and shorts and jacked-up air
conditioning, and vacation-addled
kids under your feet – or, as in my
case, out the door, working summer
jobs and getting ready for college.
At CityView, summer is the time
for our Men's Issue and here it is,
chock-full of great stories and photos
about some really interesting men
and, in one case, about the people
who honor the memory of one man.
is summer, you can – and
should – go catch a Fayetteville
SwampDogs game.
You'll still be able to do that next
summer – and you should do so,
because they're fun.
But I, for one, will also be making
plans to go to the baseball stadium
now taking shape in downtown
Fayetteville to watch the Houston
Astros-affiliated minor league
baseball team that will be playing
there. Read about the team's plans
in this issue – and join me at the
stadium next summer.
