Yamani Albert found success as soon as he
opened Straight Drop Seafood & Catering
on Reilly Road last year. People lined up
to eat his platters of fresh seafood, served
steamed, grilled or fried along with his
special secret sauce, and they still do. Ya-
mani is grateful for their business and aims
to keep pleasing his customers with excel-
lent food and attentive service.
Yamani learned to cook as a boy from
his mother. Then he joined the Army as a
cook and learned how to cook for a hun-
gry crowd. He kept cooking, for family and
friends, when he shifted to other duties in
the military. When he re-entered civilian
life, it was only natural for him to make a
new career out of his well-honed love of
cooking.
Before opening on Reilly Road, Yamani op-
erated Straight Drop in Georgia and then at
pop-up locations in Fayetteville. He quickly
grew to love Fayetteville and now plans to
build on Straight Drop's success by open-
ing a second location, called Drop by the
River, at Campbellton Landing on the Cape
Fear River. Look for more fresh delicious
seafood from Chef Yamani at that location
sometime later summer!
