Members of the Lambda alumnae boards gathered to reveal the completed terrace to Dottie and Betsy. A Publication of Chi Omega at the University of Kansas Lambda Log FALL 2014 INSIDE: New Members Join Leading Sorority on Campus 2 Welcome, New Members 2 Alumnae Update 3 Lambda WeLcomes coLLegiate Women back With stunning outdoor space A s we greet 67 new members, it's an exciting time to reflect on the legacy of Lambda. Once again this summer was a reminder that it's a daily job to maintain our historic home while providing a safe environment for our collegians. For nearly 10 years we have discussed how to once again have a sun deck for all to enjoy. This summer the dream finally came to fruition. The finishing touches have now been placed on the 20' x 40' terrace on the south side of the house. With a blue flagstone floor, brick planters, and stone caps along the seat wall, it looks as though it's always been a part of our historic home. Thanks to the Parents' Club, we have beautiful furnishings that the girls are already enjoying during the day to sun and in the evening to catch up with their Chi O sisters. As the terrace neared completion, it was only fitting that we name the space in recognition of the many, many years of service the Thomas women, including their mother, have given to Lambda Chapter. In early August we had a chance to preview the Thomas Terrace with Dottie Thomas Dickey '45 and Betsy Thomas Shafer '49. It was wonderful to present this as a small token for all they have done for our own Chi O. Just as enjoyable were the stories they shared about their time in the house and even pointed out their aunt in a composite from the 1910s. Thanks to your generosity and support, Chi Omega continues to be the most beautiful house on the Hill. We invite everyone to stop by the Chapter House to enjoy the view from the Thomas Terrace and recall your fond collegiate days at Lambda.
